I recently read an interesting posting by Mary Lynn Ziemer of www.livingajoyfullifenow.com that got me thinking.
Every relationship is a lesson for us.
Everyone has positive attributes, which become visible when you open your mind and your heart. Often people who at the moment seem unlovable are those most in need of having someone reach out to them. As you do, you bring joy to their heart as well as your own, healing you both.
Have you ever seen this in action? You probably have but don’t realize it occurs so often. This type of enlightenment comes about with your spouse, co-workers and friends when you may be venting or vise-versa.
What’s really cool is the effect this causes. Most likely it will calm the person or you down and let you look at a situation in a different light. This allows us to perhaps see a positive perspective to what appears to be a bad situation. Or gets us to realize that we need to apply the knowledge we already possess. We have two ears and one mouth for a reason; so we can listen twice as often as we speak. I know in my life this has started to come about with age and humility. I have learned and been taught that I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I have a lot of value that I can give to others and enlighten others with. When we give something as simple as a smile the benefits can be immeasurable. Now imagine if you give a smile and some of your knowledge, compassion or listening ability?
Not to mention, the relationship you can build from this can change your world and our world.
