The Chick-fil-A Difference – A Great Customer Experience

I went to Chick-fil-A for some lunch in St. Petersburg, FL and received some remarkable customer service while there. This is not the first time I have received good service at Chick-fil-A as this is part of their Unique Selling Purpose (USP). The drive through attendant was curteous, kind, used my name, had my order correct and told me what a pleasure it was to service me.

Why don’t other “restaurants” offer this type of service? My drinks were marked properly so I knew which drink was Dr. Pepper and which was Coke and my fries were not just thrown in the bag. And get this, my order was correct!  What a concept. They even had napkins in the bag for me and handed me hand wipes with my order.  the crew was all working with respect to each other and smiles while they completed the service for the lunch time rush.

The training this crew received has paid off. They are accomplishing great things in my opinion.  I had a great, efficient experience at my last visit and wanted others to know. Great Customer Service experience pays off and has great benefits for both the company and the customer.  Try it you may like the results.

Getting in Gear

I received this interesting article from Brian Johnson this morning and had to share it.

A Maserati Stuck in First Gear  |  by Brian Johnson

“Being able to shift perspectives is like having a freely functioning vehicle. If a car is stuck in any gear, what you’ve got is a dysfunctional car. Even if it’s a Maserati, if you’re stuck in first gear, or you’re stuck in reverse, no matter what gear you’re stuck in, it’s dysfunctional. But the moment you have fluidity and movement and you’re able to shift up or down or into reverse, or whatever you need to do, you’ve got a functional vehicle.” ~ Zen Master Dennis Genpo Merzel from Big Mind · Big Heart

That’s awesome. Imagine your ideal car. It looks soooo beautiful on display. You buy it. And… It’s stuck in reverse. Hah!

Now imagine YOUR life. Are you stuck in reverse? Always looking backwards? Stuck in 1st, never willing to take a risk? Or maybe stuck in 5th, never able to slow down?

As Genpo says, it doesn’t matter what gear you’re stuck in, if you can’t shift as life demands, your car is dysfunctional. Same with our lives.

Again, this is what the Big Mind process is all about: not getting “stuck.”

(And, while we’re on the subject of dysfunctional cars, how about some Anthony de Mello mojo? (See Notes on his great book Awareness for more): “You’re much more energetic, much more alive. People think that if they had no cravings, they’d be like deadwood. But in fact they’d lose their tension. Get rid of your fear of failure, your tensions about succeeding, you will be yourself. Relaxed. You wouldn’t be driving with your brakes on. That’s what would happen.” 🙂

Embrace Crazy

I recently heard this idea from Daniel Coyle, author of  “The Talent Code” and it sounded interesting.

Think about that idea of “Embracing Crazy”.  To me it sounds like throwing out any barriers that get in the way of accomplishing goals, desires etc. Sometimes we need to think crazily to get a different idea that will take off and spark new products, processes or services.  The Wright brothers “Embraced Crazy” and look what that did.

How are you Embracing Crazy to achieve greatness?  Will you talk to that customer, person of interest or spouse about something your not sure of or do do something with? Will you try a different item at your next meal?  Why not be “Crazy” and enjoy life instead of complaining or griping.

Let’s “embrace Crazy” together and if you need an Encouraging Positive Perspective to achieve greatness, I would love to be Crazy to help encourage your group.

I have heard heard the word JUST a lot lately. “If I could just get …”, If they would just…” If he would just..”, If she would just…” You fill in any other details you like.  Why are we saying this?

Are we limiting what we are capable of surpassing? “If I can just be on time..” this statement gives us an out to be on time. An out to have the discipline to leave a bit earlier or get up earlier to be on time. “If I could just make some more money.” Seems to be an “excuse” for people not to try and increase their money making potential whether that is getting off the couch, reading and learning more or taking steps to get a job done.

“Just be Happy”.. Why settle for happy when we can have ecstatic and exuberance knowing that we have received another breath and another opportunity to live life. We can be happy if we choose no matter what happens.

Let’s not “JUST” do anything, Let’s DO anything and everything we can to have a great fulfilling life.

Back to “Normal”

Since the 2012 Election is now over, perhaps we can get back to “Normal”. Or Can We?  We see all kinds of responses to the election results and days and days of analysis about what coulda, ould, shoulda.  Why?  What do we have now? We have another day if we are lucky enough and an opportunity to build our success no matter what the election results were. We do not have to follow the stock market issues and go down and wallow is our sorrow or celebrate in our happiness. What are we doing to improve our world?  It is not the job of our President alone. We live in the United States as well and have an obligation to make our world a great place.

I received this item from Denis Waitley recently and thought it applies well to the situation.

Respected author and productivity consultant Denis Waitley says that when it comes to turning stress into success, you can change your reaction to what others say and do. “You can control your own thoughts and actions by dwelling on desired results instead of the penalties of failure. The only real control you have in life is that of your immediate thought and action. Since most of what we do is a reflex, subconscious habit, it is wise not to act on emotional impulse. In personal relations, it is better to wait a moment until reason has the opportunity to compete with your emotions.”

Let’s think and act to be better people that help one another and help our communities, which will help our world. Get educated by reading books, paying attention in class at meetings etc.

America is a great place and each of our live can be a great life. We set that direction. TAKE ACTION to Achieve Greatness.
